Robert Molenaar is ready to step up his injury comeback by playing for the second time in 48 hours.

City's reserves host Newcastle tonight (7.00), two days after a goalless draw with West Brom.

And boss Nicky Law has indicated that most of the side from Tuesday will be pressed into action once again.

With intended weekend opponents Sheffield United facing Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, City are without a First Division game. So Law wants to keep the bulk of the squad match-fit with reserve-team outings.

Molenaar played the full 90 minutes against the Baggies, his first match since damaging a calf at the beginning of February. And the centre-half is pencilled in to skipper the second string again.

Law said: "Robert has been back in full training and looked all right and the plan was for him to hopefully play in both games. With us not having a match this weekend, I wanted to use the nucleus of the same squad for the two games.

"We'll also have another look at Robert Wolleaston. I believe Chelsea are letting him go at the end of the year and this is a chance to have a look at him."

Midfielder Wolleaston, 23, has made only one appearance in five years with Chelsea and has had loan spells with Bristol Rovers, Portsmouth and Northampton.

He looked tidy but unspectacular on Tuesday.
