Drug squad officers seized heroin, cannabis resin, two firearms - and dead birds of prey - after raiding a house in Keighley.

Among the variety of birds discovered in a freezer was a buzzard with a ring on its left leg, which officers believe was stolen.

The find was unearthed in a house in Braithwaite Drive, Keighley, during an operation by Bradford District Drugs Team assisted by Keighley Police, the Firearms Support Unit and the RSPCA Investigation Unit.

Two blocks of cannabis resin were found hidden in a shed, and in a freezer in the shed police located an assortment of dead birds of prey.

A Keighley police spokesman said inquiries had been launched to find the owner of the buzzard. A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of two offensive weapons. He was interviewed and released on bail pending further enquiries. Officers are still trying to trace another man.

The day-long operation also resulted in the drugs team stopping a Peugeot in High Street, Keighley and seizing heroin, cash and drugs equipment. Two men, aged 52 and 30, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

Later, a woman was arrested at an address in Salisbury Road, Keighley, on suspicion of possession of heroin, after a warrant was executed. A small quantity of heroin was recovered.

All three were interviewed and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Sergeant Gary Taylor said the arrests were made during "Keighley Partners Against Crime" week and demonstrated police commitment to disrupting drug markets in the Keighley area.
