A mother has launched a Support Our Soldiers website backing the troops in the Gulf.

Karen Webster, of Bingley, received a great reaction after an article in the Telegraph & Argus calling for a show of support for the forces.

As the war enters its third week, she said the nation should continue to rally behind the soldiers.

And today's launch of the www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk is her bid to drum up support.

She said: "There are already some excellent sites helping soldiers and their families to keep in touch.

"The aim of this site is to help with ways of showing your support for our fighting men and women."

The non profit-making website gives details on how to buy yellow ribbons and flags and stickers.

It also has a suggest-a-song section for the troops. Listed already are:

Thin Lizzy's The Boys are back in Town; Wham!'s Freedom; Billy Ocean's When the Tough Get Going; and Europe's The Final Countdown.

And Karen, 42, jokingly sends a message to superstar Robbie Williams via the web saying: "If you're reading this, give us a song."

Karen's own son Nicky Coward, 21, is serving with the 7th Armoured Brigade (the Desert Rats) with the 12th RA Regiment and - like many others - she has not heard from him for three weeks.

But a surprise bunch of flowers sent by Interflora International reduced her to tears on Mother's Day.

"I don't know how he did it. I thought it must have come from someone here on his behalf, but it seems he must have sorted it from out there somehow. It was an international order.

"The Army welfare officer has assured me he's currently safe and well. But they can't say too much about where is he for obvious reasons."

Nicky flew out to the Gulf from Germany at the end of February. Karen said she felt the need to get involved to stir up support similar to that when the England football team are playing.
