Keighley Albion 28

Emley Moor 14 - Albion travelled to Emley Moor looking for another league double.

In the opening quarter Emley enjoyed the majority of possession but Albions defensive line was up to the task. Good progress was made by Ian Spencer, Steve Wrench, Craig Livock as Albion hit back, while Simon Marsden was also looking lively.

Richard Blackburn and Jimmy Feather were combining well and made an opening for Steve Wrench to go over. After more pressure Marsden Feather blasted over from acting half tand Brookes added the extras before Emley scored a penalty to take the score to 10-2.

With Emley on the back foot Craig Livock found a gap to go through and score a converted try to leave Albion well in control 16-2 at half time.

Good driving from Spencer and Marsden sucked in the Emley defence and some quick passing between Brookes and Blackburn saw Steve Cullen get in for the score. An excellent touchline kick from Brookes put Albion well in control at 22-2.

Emley grabbed a converted try before Albion put a fine piece of rugby together which enabled Feather to break through the line and go 40 yards for his second. Brookes added the kick.

Emley came back again and added a further try to leave the score 14-28 to Albion.

Tomorrow Brighouse Rangers visit Burgess playing fields, kick-off 2.30.

Keighley Town 6

Thornhill Trojans 19

For the first ten minutes Town were camped in their own half as Thornhill pounded their line. Pressure took its toll and they were 4-0 down.

Slowly the Keighley side started to settle and Daz Lynham jinked his way through Thornhill's defence, but they couldn't complete the move. Town finally breached Thornhill's defence on 28 minutes with man of the match Daz McNulty sidestepping his way through to score and Billy McKay added the two points to put Town 6-4 up at half time.

Thornhill had a good start to the second half converted a penalty to level the scores.

Both teams were playing good rugby and after surviving aperiod of heavy pressure Thornhill added a converted try to take a 12-6 lead.

Daz McNulty side stepped his way through Thornhill's defence and raced for the line but the full back dragged him down and Thornhill bounced back with another try and tagged on the touchline conversion.

Town kept plugging away and again it was Daz McNulty who got through their defence only for the full back to do enough for Town to drop the ball. Thornhill got a drop goal right on the hooter to secure a 19-6 victory.

Silsden Park Rangers 28

Dodworth 32

A tremendous effort from Silsden was not quite enough to hold back second in the league Dodworth.

The visitors opened up the scoring with a penalty and a relatively soft try. Silsden however came straight back at Dodworth with powering drives from Martyn Fryers and his brother Paul. This effort began to take its toll on Dodworth with Danny Horne finding a gap in the line and supplying a a beautifully weighted pass for man of the match Andy Bowness who converted his own try.

He put Silsden in the lead with a try in the corner, this time initiated by Jon Gwilliam. Dodworth came back to level the scores at 12 each and then just before the break Horne managed to slip through the Dodworth line to take Silsden in to the interval with a four point advantage.

Dodworth opened the second half with a controversial try which appeared to be a foot short. Outstanding defensive performances from Horne, Eddie Billing and Matt Bowness managed to keep Dodworth from adding extra points and it was Silsden who crossed the line next with Horne going over.

The lead constantly swung from one to the other. Dodworth were next to score and then Horne chased a high chip which he collected well and scored acrobatically under the sticks to complete his hat-trick and level the score at 28-all.

Neil Jordan and John Williams continued the move but unfortunately it was broken down 10 yards short of the line. Dodworth made the killer punch five minutes before the end with a try directly from a scrum near the Silsden line.

Despite desperately trying to regain the lead time ran out on Silsden. Tomorrow Silsden travel to Odsal Sedburgh to take on the table leaders, kick off at 2.30.
