Silsden moved a step closer to the Premier Division championship when they crept two points closer to top club Brighouse Town.

The Cobbydale Club beat Hemsworth 2-0 while Brighouse had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Campion.

The win leaves Silsden just three points behind Town with two games in hand, but with a heavy end-of-season league and cup programme ahead there is still a lot of work to do.

The match at Hemsworth was locked at 0-0 on half time before goals from Matthew Bland and Jimmy Spencer gave their side the vital three points.

Steeton also held on to their slender lead at the top of Division One thanks to a Paul Goodwin hat-trick.

They beat Ardsley Celtic 3-2 to stay ahead of Altofts on goal-difference with a game in hand. Altofts certainly knew what theyhad to do and hammered seven goals past bottom club Dudley Hill Athletic. The goal spree narrowed the 'goal difference' gap to 11 goals as the Division One title race reaches boiling point.

Steeton followed up with a 3-1 victory over Salt Old Boyls on Wednesday evening to move three points ahead of Altofts with goals from James Gill and (2) and David Gaudiosi.

While the top two clubs are locked in a tough dogfight, third placed Hall Green United could still spring a surprise.

Keighley Shamrocks secured another victory at Wakefield City. They returned with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Howard Wellwood, Graham Holmes and Jimmy Christian.

Steeton Reserves won their local derby clash with Keighley Shamrocks Reserves 2-1. Scott Nelson scored Shammie's goal while Stuart Hudson and Simon Perryman were on target for Steeton.
