Anyone for tennis is the call from a Keighley sporting club that is looking to recruit new members.

Keighley Lawn Tennis Club is ready to roll out the nets and dust down its courts for the start of the new season.

And the club with more than a century of tradition is looking to recruit budding Henmans of all ages to join.

The club, which is based in Woodville Road, is also keen to dispel the stuffy image people may have of tennis clubs.

Member Kath Vaux said: "The club currently has about 60 members and we would welcome anyone interested in joining. We have a very friendly atmosphere at the club and we also have well-kept courts and grounds that are maintained by a groundsman."

"Club nights are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the season and we will have junior coaching every Friday, which will be taken by two coaches from Ilkley tennis club, followed by junior play and matches on Saturday morning."

The tennis club currently has teams in the Ladies Yorkshire League and Ladies Bradford Park League, as well as the Wharfedale Mixed League.

"We don't have a men's team at the moment so we would encourage more male members to join us," Kath said.

The club - founded in 1870 - currently has three red shale courts, an all weather court that can be played on throughout the year, as well as a smart new clubhouse.

It also holds monthly American tournaments, which involves mixed doubles games where players draw for a partner. After four games the men change sides and another four games are played. The first club nights of the season are on April 23 and 24. The first junior coaching session will take place on April 25, with the first American tournament on April 27.
