A charity fundraiser who had hoped to reunite the cast of classic film The Railway Children for an event in Haworth this weekend has been told that only actress Jenny Agutter will be able to attend.

Sunday's event is a fun day and sponsored walk -- taking in some of the Worth Valley locations used in the film -- in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CFT).

Tina Johnstone, of the CFT, had invited Jenny, who played Bobbie in the popular 1970 film, and actors Bernard Cribbins, who played station master Perks, and Sally Thomsett, who was Bobbie's sister Phyllis.

But Tina has learned that both Bernard and Sally are unable to attend because of other commitments.

"It's disappointing, but Jenny will be there and she will be taking part in the walk and selling autographs in return for donations to the CFT," said Tina.

"The trust is very close to her heart, as her niece has cystic fibrosis.

"Jenny came last year to support our first Haworth fun day -- she even brought her family and pet dogs with her and took part in the walk.

"It was a huge success. People from all over the country came."

Graham Mitchell, who was a volunteer on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and appeared in the film as a railway guard, will appear at the event in his railway uniform.

And members of local amateur dramatic societies will be dressing up as characters from the film.

"It will be a lovely, nostalgic occasion and a fun day for all the family. People from as far as Kent have been in touch to say they'll be coming along," said Tina.

Last year's event raised nearly £10,000 and Tina hopes to raise more this time.

More than 150 people have signed up for the six-mile sponsored walk, which will take in Railway Children locations such as the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Haworth's Bront Parsonage, which was used as the doctor's house, and the Oxenhope house that was the Three Chimneys, the children's home.

The walk will start and end at Haworth Park.

Events at the fun day will include a bouncy castle, fun fair rides, face painting and various stalls.

TV psychic Sam Amos, who has appeared on GMTV and Living TV, will be doing psychic readings in return for donations to the CFT.

"Sam has two cousins with cystic fibrosis so she's a big supporter of the trust too," said Tina.

The walk and fun day start in Haworth Park, at 11am.
