Adventurous youngsters from Greenhead High School who took part in an outward-bound trip to the Lakes have been rewarded for their good behaviour.

A group of 21 Year eight students from the Utley school were presented with certificates and T-shirts to mark their achievements during an activity week in Ambleside.

The prizes were presented by Keighley schools liaison officer PC Emma Harrison and the community safety inspector for the Keighley division, Insp Nigel Cawthorne .

PC Harrison said: "We have handed out these prizes to reward the good behaviour and the motivation of the pupils while they were in Ambleside.

"It is our opportunity to say thankyou to everyone who took part, particularly the pupils.

"The students have all taken part in the Keighley Police Young Citizen's Personal Development Course, and provided funding is available we will be repeating it again for Year eight pupils next year."

The active youngsters tried their hand at canoeing, hill walking, orienteering, gorge scrambling and even went on a night hike. They were also taken on a cinema trip and enjoyed games and quizzes back at the youth hostel.

The students were also joined by schools liaison officer PC Glyn Butterworth, youth project worker Garry Stevens, Greenhead's Duke of Edinburgh Awards co-ordinator Lesley Normanton and three outdoor activity instructors from Bradford Council. The trip was funded with cash from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and Greenhead's Most Able Pupils fund.

The pupils who received certificates were: Ajaz Ahmed Ali, Bojlul Ali, Shaukat Ayub, Sumara Aziz, Thomas Barlow, Emma Brooke, Lucy Carrington, Eleanor Farkas, Aaron Fortune, Shannon Horsfield, Rabia Ismail, Thomas Lowther, Joe Nicholson, Gemma Parker, Callum Parker, Farzana Ratiq, Leanne Spencer, Shaun Stephenson, Joe Taylor, Amie Teale and Jonathan Thurlby.
