A DREAM job is how Jill Wilson describes her appointment as head of Langcliffe Primary School.

Jill, who has spent three years as a deputy headteacher in Colne and the last four years as a deputy in Haworth, took over the reins at the start of term.

While many parents and teachers battle against ever increasing class sizes, Jill is delighted to be working in a school where smaller classes ensure each child receives the maximum attention.

"When I saw the headteacher's post advertised I knew that I must apply for the job and was thrilled to be appointed," said Jill.

"Langcliffe has so much to offer its children. Its small classes mean that children receive a great deal of individual attention. The school already has an excellent reputation on which I hope to build.

"I have always believed that school should be a caring, happy place with high standards where children can achieve their full potential. I also firmly believe in involving parents and the wider community in the life of the school."

Jill added: "Langcliffe pupils are lucky, not only because of the individual attention that they receive from an experienced and dedicated staff, but also because of the environment in which they work, particularly now that the new jubilee garden is in place.

"It is a true Dales village school in an idyllic setting. The story goes that one chief education officer remarked that the teachers should pay the authority to work there!

"I look forward very much to the challenges of the coming years. Prospective parents are very welcome to come and have a look around the school."
