ADEL and Rawdon are battling it out at the top of the Airedale and Wharfedale League Second Teams Division A.

Burley head Division B with Thackley and in Division C Bolton Villas are the leaders.

Veteran Phil Sant led Ilkley to victory at Follifoot on Saturday hitting 58 as they made 157. Young Andrew Rhodes continued his excellent form with three for13 as Follifoot fell for 85.

Green Lane had the best of a drawn game with Bilton making 175 for eight thanks to an excellent 74 from Phil Atkinson.

Rawdon had a half-century from J Hughes to thank for their two wickets win over Kirkstall who were restricted to 147 for nine.

Hall Park dismissed Adel for 73 with a six wicket haul from P Warburton. Park went on to win by seven wickets thanks to an unbeaten 47 from F Butt.

North Leeds failed in their attempt to match the Otley score of 180 finishing on 167 for nine despite the efforts of Guy Hollis who made 54 and F Khan who made 58.

For Otley Steve Wood opened with 35 and Matt O'Grady made 32. The veteran Chris Smith bowled a full 25 overs taking five for 71.

Guiseley took four points from a drawn game with Steeton after making 174 for nine. Chris Cooper led the way with a knock of 40 and then as Steeton hung on at 138 for eight. Adam Perring took four for 31 and Steve Dickinson (2-14) off ten overs.

In Division B the highlight of a five point haul for Burley was the near century of Andy Clarkson. Playing now for his home village team he travels from Blackpool to plunder his runs. A stand of 102 between him and Captain Jamie Davey ensured that Illingworth were always on the back foot. Accurate and sustained bowling from Andrew and Robert Wheeler took them close to victory and denied their visitors a two point draw.

This result took Burley to the top of the table, a position they strengthened further with a win at Menston on Monday.

Menston were dismissed from 154 as Andy Wheeler took four for 33 and brother Robert (3-30).

With skipper Jamie Davey in tremendous form hitting 68 victory was gained in 28.3 overs. He had excellent support from fellow opener M Harrison (55).

Addingham took all six points from their clash with Harden who were dismissed for 110 as Dick Barrow claimed four for 33 and S Kuhl (5-45). Opener A Clark hit 46 as victory was gained by a seven wicket margin.

Pool rubbed off the Silsden score of 105 with three wickets in hand. Excellent bowling from John Wood (3-21), David Wilkinson (3-21 off 17 overs) ensured victory.

On Monday it was Julian Davey (5-11) and Bruce Robertson (4-48) who took the bowling honours as Pool gained a seven wickets win over Beckwithshaw.

Despite 43 from Bob Kell Olicanians lost by 30 runs to Bolton Villas.

They got two points from a draw with Bardsey on Monday with M House (53 no).
