It was a sad day for toddlers and staff as a Guiseley pre-school closed its doors after 25 years.

St Peter's Pre-school, which is based in St Peter's Church on Tranmere Park, closed last Friday it will now be merging with Green Meadows Nursery, on Bradford Road.

The two school's will now become the Meadows Early Years Learning Centre.

St Peter's pre-school leader Jayne Nolson and two of her staff, Angela Forde and Tracey Shuttleworth, will be making the move to the Meadows.

More than 20 children will also be taking up places at the new centre.

The longest serving member of staff, current pre-school leader, Carol Whitaker waved goodbye to her colleagues and youngsters.

She has decided to retire after 25 years.

"Closing the doors of St Peter's Pre-school after all this time is the end of an era," she said.

"But we are so excited about the new venture and can't wait to welcome all the children back in September."

Hundreds of local children have passed through the group during this time.

To celebrate their last day youngsters made their own decorated hats to wear for the occasion.

The Meadows will take children from two and a half years old and two and a half hour sessions are available both in the morning and afternoon.

After October half term, it will be offering an additional four hour session.
