Yeadon Second Team's cup final aspirations were blown out of the water when they produced an uncharacteristically poor fielding display against Bradford and Bingley at Wagon Lane in Sunday's semi-final.

This allowed the home side to rack up a score of 256-9. Bingley soon got into their stride hitting 74 off the first 11 overs although Sajjad Haider had been caught by Andrew Pickering off a wide ball from Richard Wood. Martin Dobson kept the Bingley score ticking over with a quickfire 52 and he shared a productive second wicket stand with young Amar Rashid (43). With their fielders letting them down the Yeadon bowlers failed to get to grips with things.

On the other side of the coin although their ground fielding was poor Yeadon did achieve four runs outs.

Chasing a big score on a boiling hot day Yeadon soon lost their skipper Andrew Pickering bowled by Ashfaq Khan for ten.

Darren Smith, who had delayed his holiday to play in the semi-final, must have wished he had gone to Majorca anyway when he was given out lbw without scoring.

Yeadon made a recovery from 36-3 to 130-4 thanks to the efforts of Tony Gilks (62) and Paul Machell (48).

When Machell chased a wide and was caught by wicketkeeper Dobson the writing was on the wall for Yeadon and they finally succumbed for 189.

Young Jake Wray showed some promise with a knock of 18 before he too was run out.
