AS pre-season training gathers momentum and friendly games are set to be played next week Guiseley AFC announce three new signings.

Manager Neil Parsley is hoping to add more names before the season gets underway.

Last Thursday he signed former Bradford City trainee Robert Morgan, a centre-half Parsley will be hoping is very much in the mold of his father - former Guiseley FA Vase hero Dave Morgan.

Parsley has also signed well-travelled striker Scott Jackson - another with Bradford City links - and midfielder Jeremy Illingworth.

Illingworth has been signed from fellow UniBond club Stocksbridge PS where he was captain. An attacking midfielder the former Huddersfield Town player likes to get forward and he scored 16 goals last season. He joined Stocksbridge in October 2001 from Altrincham.

He made several first team appearances for Huddersfield Town and has also played for Ashton United and Wisbech.

Parsley is also hoping that former Guiseley favourite Stewart Airdrie will put pen to paper. He played for Guiseley on loan from Hednesford last season and now hopes to make a permanent move.

He has been training with the Guiseley squad at St Mary's School, Menston. St Mary's PE teacher Richard Chattoe, a midfielder with Guiseley's first team, has been running the training sessions which have attracted a large number of players.

All the club's first and reserve team players as well as the Under-19 youth squad are involved in pre-season training at St Mary's on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. There has been a big influx of players for all three sides.

Next week pre-season friendlies get underway with a visit to Brodsworth MW on Tuesday and then Guiseley host a game against Conference side Halifax Town on Thursday (kick-off 7.30 pm). It is hoped that Halifax will include former Guiseley players Lee Elam - now an England international - and Simon Parke.

Guiseley striker Alex Nesovic has signed for Irish side Derry City. Fellow striker Ryan Senior still has seven weeks of his police training to do before returning to soccer training with Guiseley.

Guiseley's UniBond League programme starts on Saturday, August 16, at North Ferriby with the first home game against Bridlington Town on Tuesday, August 19.
