Guiseley prepared for their Waddilove Cup semi-final at home to Tong Park on Sunday in perhaps the worst possible way. They could gain only one point from a drawn game with neighbours Green Lane on Saturday.

Meanwhile their opponents in Sunday's clash at Nethermoor Park - Tong Park - gained five points from their Division B clash with Silsden. They had their overseas player Chandar Sheikar in excellent form with a superb century.

Guiseley were left to chase 222 set by Green Lane after a poor start. They struggled in the early stages as Andrew Paley and Marcus Brown took wickets but then S Hargreaves came in to plunder 52 and share a good stand with footballer Phil Atkinson who made top score of 69 after some excellent knocks in second team cricket.

Guiseley were soon in trouble as the in-form Britton bagged more wickets but then Chris Underwood gave them hope with a knock of 47. Chris Wain apart with his unbeaten 39 there was little support and Mark Ross's side hung on at 155-8.

They will be looking to give a much better performance on Sunday as they seek a hat-trick of trophy wins.

The other semi-final at Old Park Road is expected to be a cracker as North Leeds entertain league leaders Bilton.

Both sides have shown excellent form of late and the pair met in a semi-final rehearsal on Saturday. Batting first Bilton showed the North Leeds bowlers what they can expect when they hammered 339-4.The former Guiseley pace

bowler Darren Murray, now turned opening batsmen, hit another excellent score with 91 and he shared a big first wicket stand with Miles Corish (98). This foundation was built on by Malik with 66 not out and Mick Emmerson with 40.

North Leeds lost cheap wickets early in their innings although Rob Winter held things together with a knock of 43.

Further good efforts came from P Valentine with 54 not out and N Baker with 36 but they had to be content with one point at 215-9.

Menston returned to winning ways when they entertained Adel. They set a modest target of 167-8 - G Bell top scoring with 52 - but had Richard Taylor in top form with the ball.

He claimed 5-37 as Adel fell six runs short at 161. He was well supported by Bell with 3-45 while Martin Knowles and Charles Dracup each picked up a wicket.

A superb 75 not out from opener Peter Kempton and 80 from his opening partner S Wilson gave Hall Park an excellent eight wickets win over Collingham who had made 219. The mainstay of their innings was number seven J Woodward with an excellent 98.

Otley claimed all six points against Beckwithshaw after posting a score of 251-5. Opener Sam Smith hammered 93 and there were a host of other useful scores.

Beckwithshsaw fell for 166 in reply as Aussie Andrew Burke returned 6-51.
