From the Telegraph & Argus of July 18th, 1978...

Planning permission has been given for an extension to the Telegraph & Argus building in Hall Ings to house the company's despatch department and new printing presses. The expansion scheme is likely to cost about £4million. New presses are needed to print larger papers, some of them with pages in colour. The present area is not large enough for the new presses the firm intends to use. The area where the presses are at present will be used for storing newsprint.

The first wide screen to be used in Bradford is being erected at the Lyceum Cinema, Bradford Lane, Thornbury, this weekend and will be used for the first time on Monday evening. The screen, which is made of plastic, and which is curved, shows a larger picture than the present one, and gives a much more vivid portrayal. The size of the present picture is 16ft by 12ft, whereas the new picture will, it is thought be approximately 24ft by 13ft.
