Young musicians at Oxenhope Primary School have hit upon a shining idea that is sure to give Andrew Lloyd Webber a run for his money

Pupils have recorded their own production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat on to CD.

And they sold 80 copies during their sell-out run of the popular biblical musical to raise money towards a new £2,700 sound system for the school.

Deputy head teacher Janet Parkinson said: "We want to buy a sound system for future concerts and performances and decided that the best way to raise money would be to record some of the favourite tracks from Joseph.

"The CD contains 15 tracks that were performed by the children and recorded by Stephen Smith and Sarah Packham, who are parents that kindly volunteered to help out. The children got a standing ovation on the last night and Oxenhope was totally knocked out by the performances."

The production of the popular Lloyd Webber musical featured 58 pupils from years five and six.

Conrad Hepworth took the lead role of Joseph, with George Chatburn playing Pharoah.

Ann Drury and Siobhan Wieremiej, whose design was chosen for the front cover of the CD, were the joint narrators.

The young stars of the production will be singing a medley of songs from Joseph at 4pm tomorrow, on Oxenhope's millennium village green.
