Hospital chiefs in Airedale have revealed their salaries a year after they were criticised for keeping the figures under wraps.

All members of Airedale NHS Trust board have disclosed their salary in the annual accounts for 2002-2003.

Chief executive Bob Allen, director of planning and marketing Doug Farrow and director of nursing and quality Sue Franks withheld their salaries from last year's annual report.

The decision sparked condemnation from health watchdogs, councillors and former trust board member Sir James Hill. The new accounts reveal that Mr Allen, 56, pictured, received between £95,000 and £99,000 during the last financial year up until April.

Mr Farrow, 50, was paid between £65,000 and £69,000, with Mrs Franks, 52, receiving between £55,000 and £59,000.

A spokesman for the trust said: "Under the Greenbury requirements, which were extended to include all NHS organisations in 2001/2, information on the salary and pension entitlements should be included, with the manager's consent, in the annual accounts and report. As a public organisation, and to demonstrate openness, we have made this disclosure in our annual accounts and it will be included in our annual report published in September."

The accounts also reveal that finance director Janet Crouch, 45, was on a salary of between £75,000 and £79,000.

Medical director Dr Paul Godwin, 46, earned a salary of £10,000 to £14,000 but also received £80,000 to £84,000 in other earnings from the trust.

Chairman Professor Brian Jewell, 67, was paid £15,000 to £19,000, while non-executive directors Zafar Ali, 55, Hazel Goulden, 51, Isobel Hall-Smith, 63, and vice-chairman Jeremy Whaley, 54, all received between £5,000 and £9,000.

Alan Sutton, 63, who took up a position as a non-executive director last September, was paid up to £4,000.
