Oh! Snow!

A magician casts the wrong spell and gets stuck inside the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The narrators soon discover the magician's presence has led to a big glitch in the story: no dwarfs.

The heroine's friends must be enlisted in the dwarfs' place to ensure this fairytale has the right ending.

And that's HYT's latest show in a nutshell: as entertaining, original and quirky as usual, but for once free of deep hidden meaning.

We could simply sit back in Victoria Hall last week and enjoy a fresh and funny tale of good versus evil.

There was a wicked queen, kind-hearted heroine, dashing prince, bumbling villains and a lot of people wandering round the forest.

HYT band member Dennis Dennis Stockden made a creditable job of both writing and directing his first show for the group.

While the action sometimes moved a little too slowly, there were plenty of funny scenes to keep things bubbling along.

Dennis's songs were a particular highlight: tuneful, varied, played well, staged effectively and sung excellently by the cast.

They were strong performances from the principals -- most notably Emma Parker as the queen -- while several ensemble members also stood out.
