Dry Land are itching to play their home town.

The band -- whose members include former Fatal Joy musician Jason Greenwood -- is looking for a Keighley venue to host its "rock with a twist" after gigs around the country.

Jason said: "We basically play music people would like to hear, good honest rock with no pretention about it."

Jason is meanwhile preparing to release an album of Fatal Joy material accompanied by a single entitled It's Too Late.

The album and single are available by phoning Jason on 01535 658186.

nMusic promoter Michael Thompson aims to help Keighley bands take part in a leading showcase event in Manchester.

Braithwaite-based Michael has forged links with organisers of the In The City music convention due to be held on September 13-15. He has agreed to send them demos, biographies and photographs of local bands who approach him.

Michael says his contact at In The City is willing to give close consideration to any artist he recommends.

He said: "They will definitely be considered, and they will receive an appraisal of their work by an industry professional."

Michael himself plans to book a venue in central Manchester on September 13 for three Keighley bands to play.

He says: "The obvious bonus of playing a gig in the town where a lot of music industry people are present, is there to see."

Application forms for In The City -- which must reach organisers by August 1-- are available from Michael at mmmproductions@nme.com. He can be contacted on 01535 610524.

nA planned outdoor concert at the Guide pub on August 9 is being organised by Haworth band The Culprits as well as Keighley rockers Wet Paint.

The Paintsters play the Cavern, Liverpool, on September 6 not 9 as stated in last week's Knights Out.
