Cross Roads have reached the last eight of the Yorkshire Cup after easily disposing of Armley Cons.

They now meet old rivals Littlemoor on July 25 and must have their best chance of progressing to the final. It is fifty years since a local side (Airedale) won this trophy, and this could be it!

Broughton Road are also in the last eight of the Henry Taylor Cup on the same day.

Cross Roads 'A' are also well placed to win the Halifax League Divison One title and are just seven points behind surprise leaders Hill Crest 'A'. Holders Lanctan are just behind in the three horse race.

Oxenhope 'A' are third in Division Two but have a bit to do to catch leaders Elland 'B' and Asa Briggs 'A'.

Oakworth are fifth in Divison Three just behind the leader but games in hand by teams below could see them nearer the bottom.

Cross Roads 'B' are well placed in Division Four, seven points adrift of Springhall, whilst Denholme are mid-table in Division Five.

Garry Ellis (Whitefield) was the easy winner of the Craven Classic at Craven, easily defeating local hope Phil 'The Moose' Anderson (Keighley) 21-12, whilst the other local hopes Foster and Foster looked sadly on. Ellis also qualified in the Rycroft Trophy, defeating the poor old 'Moose' again.

Ramon Krabon (Myrtle Park) won the Yorkshire Parks Merit yet again, defeating Nigel Broadley (Silsden PF) at Rufford Park. This makes it five times for the part time bowler, gambler and bar attendant, equalling I J Ross's record.

The Veterans are back in action once again this afternoon when they meet Huddersfield. The home leg is at Cross Hills (2.00).

Tonight sees the semi-final of the Valley and Supplementary Cup.

In the Valley Cup Steeton 'A' meet Devon at Highfield and Steeton 'B' meet Lund 'A', surprise victors over Cross Roads 'B', the favourites, at Silsden PF. The final is on August 15.

The Supplementary Cup sees Oakworth meet Whins 'B' at Lund and Craven 'A' meet Highfield 'A' at Oakworth. The final on August 22.

There is a top class field on Sunday in the final eight of the Skipton Sunday handicap of Cononley including several locals such as David Jacques, Les Foster, Brian Potts and Alan Pennington plus veterans selector Doug Stone.

The Valley's Ogden Trophy Handicap is also on Sunday at Craven commencing at 9.30am and is sponsored by the nearby Albion Inn.
