Transport enthusiasts steered themselves into Bradford yesterday when the West Yorkshire Road Car Company held an open day at its Hammerton Street depot. Bus fans made a beeline to the souvenir stalls where they snapped up mementoes of the company's golden jubilee. Popular souvenirs were lapel badges at 40p each, also tickets and ticket punching equipment from many years ago.

In a few days time a new 16ft boat will be carrying children on journeys round the lake in Lister Park, Bradford. Previously Bradford Corporation had its boats built by distant firms, but for this new 'tripping boat' it chose Hainsworth's, a boat building firm in Saltaire. Made of mahogany, it will have 3,000 copper rivers inserted.
