Guiseley and Bilton will battle it out in the Waddilove Cup final at Ilkley on Sunday August 10, after their semi-final success on Sunday. With a superb century from Aussie Chris Underwood an understrength Guiseley racked up a score of 203-6.

Opener Mark Ross gave the innings a steady start with a knock of 30 but the star of the show was undoubtedly Underwood who was run out in the last over after completing his century.

Wicketkeeper Steve Thompson, back in action after his lengthy ban, contributed a useful unbeaten 18 at the close of the innings.

Without pace bowler Andrew Paley and spinner Mark Best and with Peter Graham and Mark Ross both struggling with injury Guiseley's bowling attack was well below par but an excellent nine overs from Marcus Brown (1-18) set them on their way.

Tong Park looked in with a chance whilst Chandar Sheikar (42) and G Wilkinson (34) remained at the wicket.

Chandar seemed reluctant to walk when a Chris Wain ball removed his bails but as things hotted up Graham dug deep into his resources to produce three wickets for 33 runs and Ross defied the back pain to step up for an excellent over which produced two wickets at a cost of four runs and Tong Park were put out for 160.

Bilton were restricted to an all out 164 by North Leeds but managed to dismiss their opponents for 93 with some excellent bowling.

None of the Bilton batsmen could establish themselves properly and number eight A Burton was top scorer with 29 as Phil Valentine proved the best of the Roundhay bowlers with 3-40 off his nine overs.

North Leeds had reached 30 without loss but this soon became 40-4 as Burton grabbed 2-15 off his nine overs and Rassool 2-9 off nine overs.

Bilton mixed their bowling well and former Guiseley junior Darren Murray set up a final against his old club with a superb 3-11 return off 6.3 overs. Luke Jarvis also got among the wickets with 2-9 off nine overs and Steve Phillips bagged 3-27 off six overs.

The Birtwhistle Cup final at Pool on Sunday, August 17, will be between Guiseley and Thackley.

An amazing performance by David Ross, father of first team skipper Mark, set Guiseley on their way to an unbeatable total of 333-6. Despite suffering a hand injury in Saturday's league game Ross senior came out to punish the Hall Park attack with a blistering innings of 154.

He smashed the ball to all parts of the ground as he continued his run spree of recent weeks. The Park bowlers toiled with little success as Ross and his elder son Simon shared a fourth wicket stand of 165 with Simon cracking 52.

Other notable contributions were made by Ian Colquhoun with 30, Adam Perring with 25 not out and Richard Whitaker with 23.

Hall Park made a valiant reply with 280-7 with Craig Hobson making an unbeaten 87, Mick Allan 51 and M Hobson 42.

Thackley won their way to the final with a four wickets win over Steeton who posted 222-8 thanks to 85 from Robert Wynn.

Charles Trees picked up 4-51 and then hit an unbeaten 53 as victory was gained. Dean Skillicorn was the mainstay of the Thackley innings with a fine 81.
