Oakbank'S athletics squad clinched victory in the Keighley & District Athletics championship held at Greenhead track.

A total of seven schools took part in the event with four age groups competing at two meetings which saw Oakbank joining forces with Keighley & Craven Athletics Club to organise the competition.

A string of records fell during the championship, including the Oakbank 100m record of 11.7 seconds which had stood since 1956. The time had been equalled in 1981 and 2000, but this year Dayne Ward set a new record of 11.6 seconds.

The overall results were: 1 Oakbank (577.5 points); 2 Parkside (538.5), 3 Bingley Grammar (482); 4 S Craven (445), 5 Ilkley Grammar (426); 6 Holy Family 330; 7 Greenhead (329).

Under-13 Girls: 1 Ilkley, 2 Parkside, 3 Oakbank.

Under-13 Boys: 1 Ilkley, 2 Holy Family, 3 Bingley.

Under-15 Girls: 1 oakbank, 2 Parkside, 3 S Craven.

Under-15 Boys: 1 Oakbank, 2 Bingley, 3 Parkside.
