A Bradford new media agency has won a prestigious international award for its website design - beating off the challenge from more than 1,800 rivals.

Inphi.net, based at the business innovation centre at the University of Bradford, capped another year of growth by scooping the honour at the American Design Awards.

The competition saw the judges rate websites from the US, Turkey, Thailand and Australia for the quality of their art and design.

And Inphi.net won the award for June with a score of 99 out of 100 - the highest ever recorded. The firm will now compete with the other monthly winners for the overall prize.

After winning the monthly contest, the company's website was featured on the American Design Awards website.

The judges described Inphi.net as "a very unique site, with a wonderful 3D type introduction". They added: "The colours, perspective and layout are all very memorable and inspiring."

The honour was a major scoop for the young Bradford firm, which was set up by 32-year-old twin brothers Darren and Stuart Jones four-and-a-half years ago.

Earlier this year, Inphi.net, which has a base of about 150 clients including the private and public sectors, was shortlisted in the best web design agency category of the Yorkshire Internet Awards.

Stuart said the company, which employs five full-time and three part-time staff, was delighted with the award.

"I was elated," he said. "There were so many entries for the competition, it was just great recognition because we are quite a small agency.

"We are based in a business centre with no frontage to speak of and our only real showcase is on the internet. When other people see our work and appreciate it then it is an absolutely fantastic feeling for us."

Stuart said they had exciting expansion plans in the pipeline following its recent success.
