A flogging at Cliffe Castle, a questionnaire for all the players and a chat with Brian Noble - Gary Moorby has had a busy time arresting his side's slump.

A home defeat to Chorley, with a marked lack of the usual enthusiasm, forced Moorby into decisive action.

After a superb start to the season, things have gone a little off the boil at Cougar Park, but Moorby is insisting there is no panic.

"There is nothing major wrong at the club," said Moorby, whose side still sit one point clear of the chasing pack in National League Division Two.

"We just need to get back to basics and concentrate for the full 80 minutes.

"On Tuesday we took the lads up to Cliffe Castle for a run about there and flogged them pretty hard.

"And some of the players

admitted afterwards 'we needed that'.

"We also handed out some questionnaires earlier in the week to the players just to try and pin-point exactly how things have changed as the season has gone on.

"We sat down and discussed the answers the other night and it was all very positive with pretty much everyone coming to similar conclusions.

"We started in a blaze of glory after a good pre-season and things have levelled off a little now - but at least we all recognise that."

Moorby also revealed that he has been in touch with Bulls coach Brian Noble this week.

"I had a chat with Nobby the other day," said Moorby, who played against the Bradford supremo for both St Helens and Leeds.

"I wasn't ringing up for advice just for a chat and it was good to speak to someone coaching at that level whose side have been going through the same thing.

"You are at the top of the tree and there to be shot at and it is about doing the little things right to get back to what you were doing before."

And Moorby admits tomorrow's trip to London to take on the hapless Skolars is a wonderful chance for his side to return to winning ways.

"It was discussed with the players that this is a golden opportunity to put things right," added Moorby.

"London will have taken some heart from our recent results but if they think they can turn us over, they have another think coming."

Paul Ashton and Danny Ekis will be added to the 17 as the Cougars take a full-strength squad down to the capital.
