Robbie Paul today vowed to return to help Bulls to the Grand Final.

The inspirational skipper is convinced he can overcome his broken arm and return to take his side to double glory.

Doctors told the Kiwi that he wouldn't play for five months after breaking two bones in his arm in a tackle with Paul Sculthorpe last month - but Paul is having none of it.

"I'll be back," said Paul, who is flying to the Isle of Man for an intensive week of pressure treatments in hyperbaric chambers.

"The surgeon said it would be five months, but athletes are faster healers than normal people, so that takes a month off straightaway.

"I'm off to have this intensive hyperbaric treatment which they reckon improves healing time by 70 per cent, I reckon that takes another month off.

"And throw in the awesome power of positive thinking and I will be back in plenty of time!"

If Paul can recover for the play-offs it will be an enormous boost for the Bulls who are having to cope without four world-class players at the moment.

Mick Withers, Stuart Fielden and Karl Pratt are all on the sidelines but should return for the end-of-season run-in, and the addition of Paul can only aid the side's progress towards a league and cup double.

And Paul is desperate to be back.

"Rugby league is my job and I love doing it," said Paul, who is still not allowed to begin running due to the injury.

"I play professional sport to play in games like the play-offs, so yes, you could say I was pretty desperate to come back in time.

"My father (currently living in the UK) is going back home at the end of the season and he wants to see me play in a final - so I am going to do everything in my power to return in time."

Forbidden from using the arm in any way, or running, all Paul is allowed is the hyperbaric chamber treatments and limited time on a bike.

"It sucks just sitting on a bike," he added.

"I have also been doing some cross-training and going to the gym. I am bored, my body is dying to run but I am not allowed.

"It is a very frustrating time."

Coach Brian Noble will have to do without his injured foursome for the trip to the Jungle tomorrow, although the side have been boosted by Lee Gilmour's all clear following a week of knee problems.
