Latest Government figures show 110 operations were cancelled in Bradford during the first three months of the year.

The surgery due to be carried out by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital, was cancelled on the day for non-clinical reasons.

All of the patients had their operations rescheduled within 28 days, the figures for January to March show.

Between April and June, there were 92 cancellations but all were reorganised for within 28 days.

For the last financial year, the cancellation rate at the trust was 0.7 per cent - about 320 operations out of 45,000.

Airedale NHS Trust, which runs Airedale General Hospital at Steeton, cancelled 37 operations in the first quarter of 2002 and all were readmitted in 28 days.

In the same period, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust cancelled 348 operations and Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust cancelled 27 operations.
