New Zealand international back-row forward Logan Swann is to join the Bulls on a one-year contract.

The 28-year-old is a veteran of 26 tests for New Zealand and has made 145 appearances in the NRL for the New Zealand Warriors, scoring 34 tries in a first-grade career stretching back to 1997.

A tall, powerful ball-playing forward, Swann has been in the best form of his career during the last two NRL seasons.

Although he has always possessed the ability to deliver passes and off-loads from seemingly impossible positions, Swann's decision-making often let him down in the early part of his career.

But a new-found maturity in recent seasons has seen him develop into one of the finest back-rowers in the game, able to hold down his spot in the Kiwis and the Warriors sides despite intense competition from a host of talented youngsters.

Although not a natural replacement for the steadier Daniel Gartner and Mike Forshaw, the 6ft 3in, 15st 8lb Swann will add plenty of athleticism to the Bulls' back row.

Coach Brian Noble is delighted with the signing. He said: "It is a tremendous coup to obtain the services of a world-class player.

"Logan has been in outstanding form for the Warriors this year and I am looking forward to working with him at Bradford. He will be a first-class addition to our squad."

Despite being one of only two original Warriors left at the club - the other is Stacey Jones - the production line of young forward talent at the NRL side has seen Swann become surplus to requirements.

Swann is delighted to have secured his immediate future with the Bulls and to be joining up with Vagana and Shontayne Hape.

He said: "I am truly excited about joining Bradford Bulls. It gives me the opportunity to play with a highly successful club and to continue my association with some former team-mates.

"I find it an honour and privilege to play with such a famous club as Bradford and pledge to play my part in continuing future success."
