A Bradford company which was plunged into crisis in the summer has clinched a £1 million deal to supply computer printing products to a fledgling PC retailer.

ISA Trading Ltd, based in Little Germany, will supply inks from HP, Epson, Lexmark and Canon, as well as photographic paper from Kodak, under the contract for PC Friend.

The deal signals another stage of a remarkable recovery for the business which plunged into administration in May after ambitious expansion plans at its American parent company, Daisytek, backfired.

The company, which employs 300 staff at its Bradford head office, was saved by retail entrepreneur Brett Palos and a second private investor.

PC Friend was launched two months ago and is investing £1.5 million to open six new stores across Yorkshire.

The company has already opened stores in Leeds and Sheffield and is planning to open one in Bradford early next year.

ISA secured deals to supply computer printing products to almost all of the UK's leading supermarkets, including Morrisons and Sainsbury's, earlier this year.

Andy Evison, ISA's business manager, said: "We see PC Friend as a niche in the market which is totally different to the other outlets we work with.

"It provides computer accessories with a friendly spin, encouraging customers to ask questions and get more out of their home computers." Martin Carter, managing director of PC Friend, said he was delighted to team up with ISA.

"We're pleased that we've managed to secure such a wide range of goods from a local supplier, which reduces our costs and allows the goods to be offered at really competitive prices," he said.

The contract is part of ISA's expansion plan which should see annual turnover grow by £100 million, from £200 million to £300 million, and staff numbers grow by 100 in the next three years.

Since its takeover ISA has become one of the leading privately-owned companies in the UK. Its biggest business is in supplying products to major organisations and companies such as Government offices, the NHS and Unilever, as well as computer supplier wholesalers.
