Bradford-based window retailer and supplier Safestyle UK has reported a £15 million rise in profits after securing record sales in the first nine months of the year.

Safestyle UK has seen its turnover increase to £70.1 million compared with £55.1 million for the corresponding period in 2002.

And the results mean the company - made famous through a series of high profile advertising campaigns fronted by former Coronation Street star Ken Morley and Cannon and Ball - is on course to break the £100 million barrier by the end of the year.

Today chief executive John Ross said the firm had decided to reward the company's employees for their efforts by giving them an extra two days holiday per year.

He said: "The results for the first nine months have been very encouraging and we wanted to acknowledge the hard work in the most appropriate manner.

"At a time when business is particularly hectic and as part of our on-going commitment to all our staff, increasing the number of days holiday from 23 to 25 not only brings our company into line with most other major organisations but also offers our employees a rare opportunity to enjoy more free time."

Mr Ross said the 25 per cent increase in turnover followed a 47 per cent rise in profits at the firm's parent company Style Group Plc, which is based at the same offices in Eldon Place.

He said the success of the group, which celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, was due to maintaining its concentration on its core business.

"The company has resisted the opportunities to diversify and has remained highly focused on producing and selling the highest quality, yet competitively priced, windows and doors," he said.

"This is a strong, strategic policy, which I believe will ensure future growth and profitability for many years to come."

Safestyle has expanded rapidly in recent years and now has a network of 38 offices around the UK.

Its 2,500 staff include about 250 at the Bradford head office.
