DARTS legend John Lowe is to take on the best of local talent in Keighley next week.

Lowe, who won three World Championships in three different decades, is one of the most enduring personalities in the sport.

He was crowned Champion in 1979, 1987 and again in 1993, and in the 10 years since then has remained among the top players in the world -- and still hasn't given up on the possibility of adding fourth title in a fourth decade.

In 2002 he reached the semi-final of the World matchplay championship before losing to the eventual winner, Phil Taylor.

Known throughout the game as 'Gentleman John' or 'Old Stone Face' for his composure under pressure, he was also the first player to throw a perfect nine-dart 501-game on television. That game, back in 1984, involved throwing two 180's followed by triple-17, triple-18 and a double-18 finish.

Thursday's event at The Star on North Street, Keighley, starts at 7.30pm.
