Bantams fanatic and star actress Heather Peace today urged people to back the Telegraph & Argus Support Your City campaign.

Heather, 28, a former pupil at St Joseph's RC College, in Manningham, said she became hooked on Bradford City as a child and saw her first match at the age of ten.

"I think it's really important when the chips are down to support your home team," she said.

"When you are born and bred somewhere your heart is there and it makes it much more interesting to support your own team.

"I still wear my away shirt when I'm training. I'm proud to be from Bradford and lots of good things come out of the city."

Heather studied drama at Manchester Metropolitan University and has gone on to play roles in a number of television shows including The Bill, Holby City, Doctors and Emmerdale.

But her most famous part was as Sally Fields in London's Burning.

She now lives in Brighton and has just finished a run as Snow White at The Central Theatre in Chatham, Kent alongside Jamie Robbie Reyne who plays Taj in Neighbours.

"I've always followed the team and I play football myself," she said. "I used to play as a child when I was acting, but my dad said I had to choose between the two. Now I act as my job and play football as my hobby."

She plays for the White Hawk Ladies in Brighton and said she was a mad-keen football fan.

Despite living in Brighton she still avidly keeps up with Bradford City's progress.

Bantams managing director Shaun Harvey said he was delighted that Heather was backing the T&A's campaign to help the club stave off relegation to Division Two.

"We are aware that Heather has supported the club anonymously among other fans in the stands and we are delighted that she has come forward to publicly back the campaign."

Heather is now working on the second series of Ultimate Force alongside Ross Kemp and will be playing an SAS officer. She will also appear in the BBC1 programme Down to Earth tomorrow at 8pm.
