Ronnie Wallwork is no nearer to knowing if he can play for City again.

Wallwork signed off his month on loan at Valley Parade with the decisive goal in Saturday's 2-1 win over Crewe.

He wants to stay, West Brom are happy to let him and City want to keep him. But if the club go into administration then a deal will be kyboshed.

"I've been speaking to Gary Megson and he is quite willing to leave Ronnie with us," said boss Bryan Robson.

"But because of the imbalance in the club we still don't know what is happening.

"It would be a big thing for us if we can take Ronnie on for another month but it's out of my hands.

"I can't take him on board if we go into administration this week. It just depends on which way it goes in the next few days."

The Wallwork scenario shows the problems that Robson faces to keep the players focused on matters on the pitch rather than politics off it.

The City boss said: "I've told the lads that their job is to play football. All we can do is prepare ourselves in training and go out there and do the job on a match day.

"What goes on in the background is up to other people. We've got enough to be concentrating on."

Wallwork didn't know too much about his second City goal which cannoned in off his midriff from close range as Danny Cadamarteri's drive flashed across the goalmouth.

Dean Windass, whose header put the Bantams ahead, joked: "Ronnie's got a few bellies more than me and luckily it went in off one of them."

Crewe substitute Ben Rix had equalised with a wonder strike midway through the second half but City, who had lost their previous five games, did not buckle.

Robson added: "The lads stood up to be counted and got their just rewards with Ronnie Wallwork's winner.

"We haven't always got the breaks but thankfully this time we did."

Opposite number Dario Gradi moaned: "I didn't think Bradford were going to score. But our goalkeeper gifted them the first goal and the second was a scramble."
