STRONG winds nearly closed the Otley to Askwith road last week by bringing down a tree over Weston Lane.
The incident, which happened during stormy weather last Friday, left the route only barely passable.
Police were quickly at the scene to put up warning signs on either approach to the area, and the tree was eventually cleared by council workers.
