Guiseley AFC were left kicking their heels on Saturday when their Nethermoor Park pitch became waterlogged and unplayable.

Their home UniBond Division One game with Leek Town had to be postponed. This has now been re-arranged for Tuesday, March 30, with a 7.45 pm kick-off.

Guiseley manager Neil Parsley may well have been glad of the lay-off as it assisted some of his players to return to fitness prior to the trip to high flying Hyde United this Saturday.

Parsley will have striker Simon Parke back in the squad along with left back Keiron O'Brien who missed the last game - a 1-1 draw with Bishop Auckland. Parke has been missing for many weeks and his inclusion could be just the spur Guiseley need to improve their form of late.

They had got themselves into a useful position - needing to remain in the top 13 to be part of next season's Premier Division in the re-organisation to come at the end of the season. Then with three home games in which to consolidate their position things started to go wrong.

They lost 1-0 to Prescot Cables after a very poor performance away at Colwyn Bay. They then could only draw 1-1 with visiting Bishop Auckland.

They were looking to put things right in the Leek game before moving on to challenge title chasing Hyde.

Of course with the Leek match postponed Parsley will be hoping that the rest has done his side some good.

He said: "Our first target is to get 53 points, the same number we finished with last season. As soon as that total is hunted down we need to move on as I don't think 53 points is going to be enough to finish in the top 13, which is our ultimate goal.

The goalposts are moving after every game and I think 60 to 62 points is more the target for finishing in the top 13.

Guiseley have nine games left in which to achieve those 17 points the manager thinks are necessary.

The manager does not envisage making any more signings before the end of the season but is keen to extend the loan period of centre-back Rudi Coleano who started the season as a Farsley Celtic player.

He broke a leg in the pre-season friendlies and has not seen any league action with the Celts in what is proving to be an excellent season for them as they chase the title and the ultimate prize of a Conference play-off place.

With Parke and O'Brien back in action it only remains to get right back Peter Atkinson fully fit for the run in. Stewart Airdrie is out for the season with a pelvic injury.

Parsley and his assistant Clive Freeman watched Hyde at Ossett Town on Monday.

He said:"Ossett's long ball game found Hyde out at times, they had two contrasting styles. Steve Richards' side deserved their point at the end of the day."

"There will be a lot at stake when our sides clash at Ossett on April 6 and I am sure Rico will want to put one over his old club."
