Ilkley RFC Under-7s and Under-8s enjoyed a well organised and successful tour of East Yorkshire.

Over 20 boys and accompanying parents were entertained by Hull Ionians on the Saturday and took part in a mini Rugby festival at Driffield on the Sunday.

Honours were even for the Under-7s at Hull Ionians with one victory and one defeat, while the Under-8s won both their matches, with some entertaining and fast flowing rugby.

In the Festival at Driffield on Sunday Ilkley faced opposition from teams from Harrogate and Malton as well as the hosts, in very blustery conditions.

The Under-7s beat Driffield B team 3-2 in their first pool match, were unlucky to only draw 4-4 with Driffield A, narrowly lost to Harrogate 5-4, and earned themselves a place in the third place play off against Malton.

They showed great spirit and some good skills to win 5-3 for a creditable overall third place.

The Under-8s had two comfortable victories in the pool matches against Harrogate (7-3) and Driffield B (7-4), capitalising well on some opposition handling errors.

In the final they met a strong Driffield A side who took advantage of some tired Ilkley legs to run out eventual winners 9-4, leaving Ilkley to claim a well-deserved runners-up trophy.
