Littlewood's football pools millionaires Tommy and Elaine McDonagh are being sought to help celebrate the company's 80th birthday.

The couple, who were living in Cross Roads, at the time, scooped the £1,010,172.40p win in October, 1987.

The huge windfall came after jobless Tommy scraped together 80p from the remains of his dole money and bought two extra lines on his 31-year-old wife's pools coupon.

The couple, who had three children, were existing on £90 a week unemployment benefit and living in a three bedroomed terrace house.

The jackpot win allowed them to have the honeymoon they had never had -- Elaine was 16 when she married.

And they were planning to swap their seven year-old Datsun car for a BMW and Elaine was hoping to learn to drive.

But she was determined to continue with her business studies course at Keighley College, hoping the knowledge would help them decide what to do with the money.

The couple admitted at the time that their new fortune would change their lives.

But they stressed: "We are still the same people. Folk seem genuinely pleased for us and we are still treated as normal."

One of their first luxuries was a trip to Disneyland and their three children were given treats -- the two girls wanting new shoes and their son a radio-controlled car.

Littlewoods head of marketing Dave Raywood said it was keen to track down the McDonaghs and other people who had big life-changing wins.

He was asking the public to help track them down for the anniversary party this spring.

"To meet our famous winners and their families would be a fantastic honour and would really put the icing on the birthday cake," he said.

The company planned the winners' party to celebrate the three billion pounds it had paid out to 60 million people in its 80-year history.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the McDonaghs should telephone the Keighley News on 01535 606611.
