When a Skipton joiner was fined ten shillings at Skipton today for allowing a dog to foul a footpath it was stated by Supt T. Denvir that it was the first case of its kind to be brought to the court under a West Riding county by-law of 1952. The Superintendent said that PC Cullingworth saw a corgi dog, on a lead held by the defendant, foul the pavement in Keighley Road, Skipton, on March 10. When the officer pointed out the offence, the defendant said: "I am sorry. I didn't know it was an offence."
