David Wetherall today saluted chief executive Julian Rhodes for his on-going fight to keep City alive.Rhodes is hoping to negotiate a stay of execution for the club for the rest of the sea-son and is waiting to hear posi-tive news back from the Foot-ball League.Wetherall voiced the support from the dressing room - and lavished praise on the chief executive for putting his neck on the line. The City skipper said: "People talk about the money Julian keeps putting up which shows his commit-ment. But it's also the time, ef-fort and energy he puts into the place. There must have been times when he thought about walking away and nobody could have blamed him. It's been a long struggle since the last administration with one kick in the teeth after an-other."I'm sure that if he wasn't a totally committed Bradford City fan then he would have left a long time ago."It's that desire to see the club survive that has kept him going. It's not for his own bene-fit as a businessman but to still have a football club for this city to support."The players were set to be paid for last month to-day, 24 hours late, once Rhodes got the nod from the League to continue funding the admini-stration. But with relegation to Division Two staring them in the face, Bryan Robson's squad cannot be swayed by the uncer-tainty.Wetherall added: "As players it's impossible to es-cape what is going on. But our job is to focus on what happens on the pitch. We cannot do any-thing about other matters so we've got to get on with play-ing."The news seems to be a bit more positive on that front and everyone is grateful for that."
