Otley'S Easter Cross was hauled into place on Otley Chevin at the weekend.

Dozens of people helped pull the 32ft high cross into place high above the town.

The cross, made from pitch pine salvaged from the 1996 IRA bombing of Manchester City Centre, will stay in place throughout Easter and come down again on Saturday, April 24.

An early morning service is due to take place at the cross at 7am on Easter Day, April 11, with a separate service due to take place at 3pm at the temporary cross in Market Place.

Churches Together in Otley will also be handing out 300 hot cross buns in the Market Place on Easter Saturday, April 10, from 10am to 11am.

As part of the ongoing Faithfest programme in the town, there will also be a Prayer Labyrinth in the Manor Room, United Reformed Church, Bridge Street from Monday to Saturday, every day from 10.30am to 12.30pm, from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 7pm.
