WHARFEDALE Triangle League side Rawdon AFC made it to their third cup final when they hammered Bradford side Albion Sports Reserves 6-0 on Tuesday.

The Rawdon side were playing for the right to oppose fellow Wharfedale Triangle League side Yeadon Park Rangers in the West Riding County Trophy final.

This will take place at County HQ in Woodlesford on Thursday April 22.

Park Rangers had already won their way to the final with a 1-0 win over fellow Triangle League side Horsforth Rangers the previous Thursday.

Park Rangers winner was a first-half headed goal from Andy Clarke.

When Rawdon stepped out against Albion they came face to face with a familiar figure.

Prolific goalscorer Steve Daykin has played in the Guiseley AFC Reserves side with Rawdon's Dave Gilks, Lee Poole, Richard Machell and Matt Larkins. Rawdon's defence of Gareth Reynolds, Paul Machell, Darren Auton and Kevin Gilks however kept the big man quiet and he found no way through to stand-in 'keeper Richard Machell.

Machell has stood in well for regular 'keeper Andrew Pickering who has been out of action for some time with a thumb injury.

Rawdon led 1-0 at the break and then netted another on the hour. They then killed off their opponents with a three goal burst.

Their scorers were Lee Poole (2), Andy Carlton, David Gilks, Matthew Larkins and Darren Auton.

Rawdon will also face Park Rangers in the Wharfedale Triangle League Cup final at Guiseley AFC on Thursday, April 29, kicking-off at 7.30 pm.

Rawdon will also play at Guiseley in the final of the Wharfedale FA Sunday Challenge Cup on Thursday, April 15.

This has a new sponsor in W Machell & Sons Ltd. and W Machell Joinery Ltd. of Guiseley.

Rawdon will take on Shipley Town in a repeat of last season's final but hoping for a reversal of the result.

Match officials for this game will be referee Lee Creasey, assistants Tony Brown and Ian Metcalf and fourth official Mick Slingsby.

The Saturday Challenge Cup final at Guiseley on Good Friday, April 9, kicking-off at 7.30 pm is sponsored by Ilkley Roofing Contractors. This will feature underdogs Bramhope AFC and Horsforth St Margaret's who have won the trophy for the past five seasons.

The referee will be Michael Dennison with assistants Adam Bowen and Stewart Taylor. The fourth official will be Tony McGowan.

The Wharfedale FA Junior Cup final between Horsforth St Margaret's Juniors U-16s and Otley Town will take place at Pool on Easter Sunday (11 am). The referee will be Paul Farrell, assistants Steve Powell and Martin Ashworth and fourth official Reid Haddow.
