Six girls were arrested following an incident at a Keighley secondary school.

Police were called to Oakbank, in Oakworth Road, at lunch time on Tuesday, after reports of a disturbance.

Those arrested were later released on police bail pending further inquiries.

A police spokesman said allegations of criminal damage and offences under the Public Order Act were being investigated.

He confirmed that all those arrested were juveniles but was unable to comment on whether or not they were all pupils at the school, which is a centre for sporting excellence.

Oakbank head teacher Chris Thompson said: "There was an incident towards the end of Tuesday lunch time involving a small group of girls. Some damage was caused to school property. Police were called and the girls were removed from the site."
