A Keighley trio's first album is being championed by a member of legendary US rap group Public Enemy.

Ill Bass Method sent its music over the internet to Public Enemy member Chuck D's record label.

Writer and producer Pete Shepherd, alias Pete Perfect, met Chuck during a gig at Leeds University last year.

The album, which mixes rap lyrics, hip-hop beats, scratching, samples and live guitar, is now available to local people.

The 14 tracks, combining styles of underground hip-hop and old skool rap, is released on the new Turbo Terrific Productions label.

Ill Bass Method includes co-producer and bassist Darren Akeroyd, alias Daz Funk, from local band Operator 6, and co-writer and backing singer Tony Ousey from Circus?.

n Aziz Ibrahim, Damon Minchella, Mick Talbot and Steve White have long been regarded as as tip-top musicians in their regular bands. Then they came together as The Players and released the instrumental album Clear the Decks.

Recorded live, it focused on the rhythm section and showcased a higher musical purpose to young musicians.

Members of local bands can witness The Players' skills at first hand on Sunday as the band performs in Keighley.

Aziz is known for playing in the Stone Roses and with Ian Brown. Damon has played bass for Ocean Colour Scene for 12 years as well as playing in Paul Weller's touring band.

Steve White has drummed for Weller on 39 hit records as well as playing with Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene, Paul McCartney and Jimmy Page.

Mick Talbot was the other half of the Style Council with Paul Weller, and has also played with Jools Holland and Young Disciples.
