Skipton Building Society's Cross Hills branch has lent its support to charity by donating signed photographs of celebrities for auction.

The autographed pictures include Elton John, England footballer Jonathan Woodgate and the cast of EastEnders. They were given by the building society to the Cross Hills and Glusburn Manorlands support group. The group will give the proceeds of the auction to Manorlands Hospice, which cares for sufferers of cancer.

The bidding takes place tomorrow at St Peter's Church Hall, Cross Hills. Michael Walton, Keighley's town crier, will be the auctioneer. Viewing is from 10am, and the auction starts at 11am.

The pictures were collected after the staff wrote to a number of celebrities asking for donations. Customer advisor Sharon Hardaker said they had collected quite a lot of memorabilia for charity:

She said: "We have been sent a lot of things, Ant & Dec's socks are over there in the cupboard."

Branch manager Martin Lee said: "In the past we have raised a large amount of money from auctioning celebrity goodies but hope to make this auction an even bigger success. Don't let the sun go down on this fantastic opportunity!"

Since August last year, the support group has raised nearly £4,500 for the hospice, and have several other events planned. This includes the raffle of a cotton quilt made by the group's treasurer, Margaret Nicholson, on June 26 at the Cross Hills OAP centre.
