A plucky cocker spaniel has returned home safe and well after living it "woof" during an amazing three-week adventure.

Owner Veronica Read, of Sunhurst Close, Oakworth, was thrilled to bits when family pet Becky was returned. The five-year old had escaped out of a car window on March 17, in Sainsbury's car park, in Keighley.

Fellow dog owner Pam Beaumont, of Oxenhope, found the mischievous mutt near the Waggon and Horses Inn, at Oxenhope moor. She then carried Becky home so she couldn't run off, and fed her before phoning Veronica with the good news.

Worried that she had seen the last of her canine friend, Veronica published a notice in the Keighley News lost and found section two weeks ago. Since then, there had been several sightings of Becky, ranging from Cliffe Castle grounds, Bingley St Ives and the Lund Park area.

Veronica said: "I wish to thank all the readers and others who phoned me to report sightings of Becky all over the district. I must also thank the motorists who avoided her on her numerous trips across quite busy roads, including Queens Road, Keighley. We are overjoyed to have her back home again. She seems fit and well in spite of her ordeal and has lost weight, which was a good thing really!"

Veronica was so grateful for the dog's return, she rewarded Pam with a bunch of flowers and a bottle of wine. With so many people helping with the search, money from a reward is to be donated to Manorlands hospice.
