Lister Park started their Bartle League season with a 22-8 victory over a strong Brackenhill A side, and as expected Nino Esposito starred with a 21-9 win.
Littlemoor B handed out the same punishment (22-8) to Clayton B.
At Rufford, Billy Cater got Royd House A off to a flyer (21-8), only for home bowler Derek Benson to reply with a 21-9.
The next five jacks were close affairs, until Mike Bloomfield produced a stunning 21-1 to enable Rufford to run out 19-11 winners.
Low Moor Harold had a very good away win at Peel (20-10), with four single-figure wins coming from Neil Tordoff, Ian Boldy, Chris Lee and Ken Green.
Haigh League promotion favourites Stanningley hammered West Bradford A 26-4, with Terry Powell (21-5) and Alec Short (21-7) showing good form.
Bradford Moor A also started off well with a 22-8 win over Armley Cons B. John Cook and D Briggs both turned in 21-5 cards, while P Arthurs minimised the margin with the last block for Armley, coming off the green a 21-3 winner.
West won away at Wyke in a close game (17-13), and Austin Wallis (21-9), David Dransfield (21-9) and Malcolm Frear (21-6) led Spen Ex B to a home win over Horton A.
Asa Briggs B thrashed Horsforth Woodside B 27-3 in the Riley League with Mark Smith and Mick Samsome both registering 21-3 wins. Horsforth's David Hill was the only away team bowler to register a win (21-10) on what is an exceptionally good home green.
Troydale and Knowles B shared the points, 15-15. Brian Howard starred with a 21-6 win.
Joan Law's 21-9 success set the standard for Queensbury B as they won at Guisley B
Bramley Libs B won away at Drighlington B 17-13 and Eccleshill C won at home to Wibsey B 21-9. Sally Clark's 21-4 win and Andy Firth (21-8 did some of the damage.
Wibsey's Fred Haylock (21-9) and Barbara Gott (21-6) ensured the defeat was not greater.
Who needs Chris Mordue? Birkenshaw certainly don't when they have Malcolm Ellis (21-3), Gordon Whitehead (21-7) and Anthony Hatherley (21-9). The trio sent Birkenshaw on their way to a 23-7 victory over Baliffe Bridge in the Field Packaging League.
Salts B won away at Oakenshaw B 19-11 despite Ian Haigh's 21-3 victory for the home side and three single-figure wins out of the last four jacks enabled BBA to record a 22-8 win at Horton B.
David Swain's 21-6 win over Bert Harrison and Pat Walker's 21-5 success got Guiseley C off to a good start against a patched-up Greengates B side in the Mellor League. However, 21-5 wins for Jack Riley and Tony Southern saw Greengates B register their maiden victory 18-12.
Lister B's 19-11 away win at Brackenhill B was down in part to the McEvoy's, Teresa (21-6) and Pat (21-7)
Asa Briggs C and Wibsey C had five winners apiece. However, three of Asa's five successes were by single figures (Andrew Trudgill (21-9), Dave Shannon (21-6) and Irene Mitchell 21-9 ) to give them a 17-13 win.
Meanwhile, Driglington C have resigned from the Mellor League and Spen Victoria C have pulled out of Field Packaging.

Yorkshire County will play the Potteries on Sunday, May 2.
The home tie is to be played at Low Moor Harold and five Brighouse Sports players will be on show, which is no surprise, as they should be very familiar with the green. All support would be greatly appreciated.
