Bamber Bridge 1, Guiseley 2

A LATE winner from Dave Henry sealed Guiseley's elevation into next season's restructured UniBond Premier Division.

Guiseley had a bad start when Nathan Hay back-headed a clearance from Bamber 'keeper Cyril Sharrock over John Lamb to give Bridge the lead after only three minutes.

Mark Stuart fired Guiseley level from the edge of the penalty area on 47 minutes.

Guiseley left it late but leading scorer Henry finished off a sweeping move in the 88th minute which delighted the Guiseley following.

The win secured Guiseley's place in the restructured Premier Division.

Guiseley 0,

Stocksbridge PS 0

With Guiseley having secured a place in the Premier Division and Stocksbridge having only pride to play for a goalless draw might seem a predictable result for this end-of-season encounter.

However, both teams adopted a relaxed approach and with a bit more luck and better finishing could have produced a goal feast. Amazingly both goals remained intact.

For Guiseley Dave Henry, Mark Stuart, Simon Parke and Nathan Hay came within a whisker of scoring as they followed manager Neil Parsley's dictate to entertain the fans.

Making his presence felt in and around the opposition penalty area whenever Guiseley had a corner Nathan Hay had a powerful header cleared off the line in the first-half and put two efforts millimetres wide in the second-half.

Simon Parke, restored to a striking role, had a first-half goal disallowed by an off-side flag and Dave Henry was a constant threat to the - but like his colleagues was unable to apply the finishing touch.

Stuart had the best chance when a superb ball from Peter Atkinson bisected the Steels defence to leave him clear but 'keeper Richard Siddall showed great reflexes to smother his shot. Siddall also did well to keep out a shot from Jeremy Illingworth, captaining the side against his former club.

Remarkably this was only the second goalless draw Guiseley have been involved in this season.

l On Saturday Guiseley play their final game of the season at home to Kidsgrove Athletic (3 pm).
