Youngsters from schools and sports clubs around the region came to Ilkley to take part in The Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club Charity Junior Superstars competition event.

The event organised by Tony Walker and Stephen Williams (Fitness manager and Fitness Consultant at Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash club) was run with the aim of raising money for 'The Ilkley Candlelighters' and to give kids an opportunity to get involved in exercise and fitness.

The event was based around six activities testing different aspects of fitness.

The teams included representatives from Ilkley Karate Club, Ben Rhydding Hockey Club, Farsley Farfield School, Malsis School, Clevedon House school, Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club and Westville House school.

It proved to be a very close run thing with only four points separating the top three teams, with The Ilkley Little Monsters (from Westville House and Clevedon House Schools) coming out on top followed by the team from Malsis School two points behind.

The competition for top male individual and top female individual again was extremely close with one point separating first and second place in both.

Top male was Harry Warburton from Malsis School and top female was Grace Christopher from Farsley Farfield School.

Event organiser Tony Walker said "It had been a tremendous day everyone enjoyed themselves and in the process raised £215 for The Ilkley Candlelighters."
