Three Ben Rhydding players represented the North East of England in the Under-14 Divisional Tournament. Callum Connor, Olly Musgrave and Cameron Borrett travelled to Millfield School in Somerset for the event.

The team started slowly but finished the weekend with two wins on the final day against South East and North West.

Callum Connor, having played in midfield on the first day, was returned to his club position at the heart of defence on day two and was outstanding with his long reach causing a difficult barrier for the opposition attackers.

Cameron, playing in midfield and a year young, proved that he could rise to the occasion and set up an excellent goal having beaten two Midlands players and delivered a pin-point final pass.

Olly, also a year young, made a good start but really stood out in the game against the East when he made a string of outstanding saves and was bringing curses from the opposition parents and team managers alike, who were thinking they were never going to score.

His reward for this and other performances was being included along with six other boys who were being considered for Player-of-the-Tournament. This award went to one of the South West players who won the tournament.

Another Ben Rhydding player Callum Franks had been selected for the North East side but was not able to travel because of a prior School commitment.

He will get his chance next year as he too is a year young.
