Pudsey Congs still don't know when their overseas star Naveed Rana ul-Hassan will arrive.

Skipper Matthew Doidge said of the Pakistani international: "He is waiting for his passport and his visa, and could arrive today if that is sorted out - or it could be next week or the week after."

Congs certainly missed Rana last Saturday as Bankfoot's last pair held out for some 19 overs, where Doidge admitted they didn't bowl strongly enough.

Doidge said: "We batted well enough on a typical early-season wet wicket to make 196 for nine, and we bowled well in general, and particularly Mark Bray."

And on Bankfoot's tenth-wicket survival act, the Congs captain said: "We didn't spill any chances, although a couple dropped into space, but we did have a run-out chance that we should have taken."

Tomorrow Congs have an interesting clash at home to Hanging Heaton, who started with a two-wicket victory at home to Baildon.

Division Two champions Saltaire had a five-wicket triumph at Farsley, but are expecting a tougher day out tomorrow at Woodlands.

Saltaire's skipper Ijaz Khan said: "We seemed more up for it than Farsley, and I was pleased with our fielding, our attitude and our general team effort.

"Also we weren't overawed. It can be a bit daunting when you see Ashley Metcalfe walking out for the opposition, but I told our lads in the dressing room that it is only 11 against 11."

Khan added: "We still don't know when our overseas man Bilal Azad will arrive, but at least we have made a good start.

"You need a longer tail in Division One than Division Two, and it was good that Salman Benzafar, who has been with us since he was a junior, came through for us with 14 batting at No 7 near the end."

Saltaire were also indebted to Mohammed Asim, a close-season capture from Oldham, who took four for 37 and made 49 not out.

Khan said: "He is more of a bowler than a batter, but he can put bat to ball."

Woodlands' Safraz Ahmed might not have done much with the ball during their defeat at Undercliffe, but - as befits a good all-rounder - he came off with the bat, making their top score of 38.

Khan added of tomorrow's clash, which pits him against his former Roberts Park skipper Tim Orrell: "It will be a sterner test, especially as their overseas star is here.

"We will get a better indication of how the season will go, but at least we have the same side as last week."

Baildon aim to bounce back when they take on Pudsey St Lawrence at Jenny Lane, and Cleckheaton have a derby at Spen Victoria.
